Questions about converting HEIC to JPG
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the default photo format on iPhones since iOS 11. It stores photos at a smaller file size than JPG at similar quality, which is great for saving space on your phone — but many apps, websites and older devices outside Apple's ecosystem still can't open it.
Windows and Android don't include built-in HEIC support the way iOS and macOS do, so double-clicking a .heic file often shows a broken-image icon or an "unsupported format" error. Converting to JPG first makes the photo openable everywhere, no extra software required.
There is a small amount of quality loss, since JPG re-encodes the image, but at the default quality setting it is generally not noticeable. Raise the quality slider toward 100% if you want the closest possible match to the original.
